Escape the Cave Backpack: Capacity, Upgrades and the Infinite Bag

How the Escape the Cave backpack works: the 25-item base limit, the bag-full notice, selling to empty it, and the upgrade paths that raise your capacity.

In Escape the Cave, your backpack — the bag, or inventory — is where every mined item goes: ordinary rocks and valuables such as gold, sapphire and ruby all drop into one shared haul. Capacity is a flat item count that starts at 25, the game posts "Your bag is full" the moment you hit it, and selling your haul is the only way to empty the bag and keep mining. You expand it two ways: buy the next bag tier from the tab menu with money earned from selling, or pick up the premium Infinite Bag pass, which removes the limit entirely. Mine carts and robot helpers move more per trip, but they never change the bag counter itself.

Treat these as single-session observations, not a current price list — tiers visibly shifted between recordings, so the in-game menu is the source of truth.

What fills the bag and how you empty it

Everything you break loose while clearing the cave goes into the same haul. Rocks make up the bulk, and the glowing finds — gold, sapphire, ruby — land in the same bag but sell for more, which is why one duo urged each other to take "the glowing ones so the money we get is higher" ("kunin natin yung mga umiilaw-ilaw para mataas yung money na makuha natin").

Capacity shows as a plain counter. One recorded run read 24/25 just before the player dumped the haul at the sell spot, and a Tagalog pair spelled out the starting limit directly: "Buti nga 25 agad yung pwedeng ma-carry" — good thing 25 is what you can carry right away. When the counter tops out, the game displays "Your bag is full" — a notice that returns all session long, because the loop only restarts once you sell. The players' rhythm was "फटफट उठाओ फटफट सेल करो" — grab fast, sell fast: fill up, run the haul to the sell point, sell, and head straight back to the rocks.

How to raise the limit with bag upgrades

  1. Sell hauls until you have cash. Selling is the funding step — the recorded players bought every upgrade from sell money ("Dami akong money eh" — I already have a lot of money).
  2. Open the tab menu and find the storage entry. When one player couldn't find his, his teammate pointed the way: "tab mo. Tapos yung paside storage" — your tab, then the add-storage entry. The game pushes you there too: on-screen text reads "Upgrade your bag."
  3. Buy the next tier and watch the counter jump. The new capacity applies immediately.

What the recordings show: one session climbed 30 → 45 → 65 → 90 before a player topped out at what the game called the ceiling — "Max lang pala yun. 120 na" (so that's the max — 120 now). A different session quoted cash prices instead: the old $5 tier was gone, a $10 upgrade was on offer, and "$9 चाहिए ना अपग्रेड करने के लिए" (it takes $9 to upgrade) preceded the purchase that took capacity to "160 की कैपेसिटी हो गई" (capacity hit 160).

The two runs disagree on the ceiling — 120 called the max in one, 160 reached in the other — which points to tiers changing between updates. Don't plan around either number: buy the next tier whenever the menu offers one and your sell money covers it. Purchases repeat as often as you can afford them, and the recorded players kept alternating bag upgrades with their other gear buys all session.

The Infinite Bag pass

The premium route deletes the cap altogether. In one recorded session: "Ah infinite bag. Mag-infinite bag kaya ako? Ah magkano yon? Seven. Seven lang." — should I get the infinite bag? How much is it? Seven, just seven. The player found it, bought it, and the limit was gone: "Infinite na yung bag natin ha. Kahit ilan na pala ang kunin natin" — our bag is infinite now; we can pick up any amount.

Two things to verify before you count on it. The footage shows a price of seven but never names the currency — the same video buys an unrelated item for "two robox only," so Robux is the likely reading, not a confirmed one. And the pass was captured in an archived September 15 listing of the game's passes; pass lists change. Check the current Escape the Cave gamepasses page or the in-game pass menu to confirm the Infinite Bag is still offered — and at what price — before buying.

Carts and robots: more per trip, not more bag

Two purchases make each run pay better without touching the capacity counter:

  • Mine cart. Sold at the side of the cave for 40 diamonds ("Mura lang eh... 40 diamonds lang" — it's cheap, just 40 diamonds). It's framed as adding to how much you collect, limited to one per player, and upgradeable — an upgraded cart was shown collecting 90 on its own. Details are in the mining car guide.
  • Robot helper. A companion that hauls 45 rocks per trip ("45 रॉक एक बार में ले जा पाता है") and keeps earning while it works. The recordings don't show whether that 45-rock carry can be upgraded.

Neither one changes the number on your bag — a full bag is still a full bag, which is exactly why the recorded players bought bag tiers on top of these.

Bag size vs. mining gear

A bigger bag cuts your sell trips — one player with a 110 bag counted roughly 864 rocks still to clear and budgeted three or four trips to finish the job — but your speed gear decides how fast each bag refills. Right after a grasp upgrade, the same player's bag "filled a lot faster," and he turned straight back to the tab menu for another bag tier. Alternate the two: when "Your bag is full" interrupts you more often than slow mining does, buy the next tier; when you spend most of a bag cycle chipping at rocks, put cash into the pickaxes and drills on the gear upgrades path instead.

If you're grinding sell money for any of this, check the active Escape the Cave codes before you start, and the mining guide walks through the fill-and-sell loop from the beginning.
