Escape the Cave Walkthrough
Follow a complete Escape the Cave walkthrough: mine the rock wall, sell at the cart, upgrade pickaxe, drill and bag, and reach the tunnel end to escape.
In [CLANS] Escape the Cave by WorldLab Studios, the roof comes down on your first shift and the only way out is through the rock. Every run is one repeating cycle: mine the rock wall until your bag fills, sell the haul at the mine cart, and reinvest the cash in the Tab shop so you dig faster — until the rocks turn purple near the end, the final plug is cleared, and you squeeze through a narrow gap into the portal. Entering that portal is what actually completes the run: in the full recorded run this walkthrough follows, two players on Easy finished in 14 minutes and received 120 gems plus a +240 coin bonus the moment it pulled them in.
The route at a glance
- Lobby — choose Easy or Hard, solo or with up to 3 friends, and confirm to start.
- First wall — mine by hand; the starting bag holds about 25 rocks, and glowing ores pay extra.
- Sell — drop the haul in the mine cart for cash.
- Upgrade — open the Tab shop: bag capacity first, then the drill.
- Repeat — mine, sell, upgrade; watch the "Find a way out" and "Pickup rox: 500 rocks" objectives and free the buried miner NPC along the way.
- Escape — clear the purple rock plug, follow the light, squeeze through the gap.
- Finish — enter the portal to bank the rewards and return to the lobby.
Before you start
The lobby boards show other players' best times plus your total rocks and total wins. You can play solo or bring up to three friends, in Easy or Hard mode, with nine miner classes to roll or pick — Rooky, Heavyweight, Deep Driller and The Mine King are among the classes you can land. Any class or pet you buy in the lobby carries into your next run with automatic bonuses to bag size, cash and gem gain, so early purchases keep paying off.
The steps below follow the demonstrated Easy-mode route; what Hard mode changes isn't documented, so treat them as the baseline path — mode differences and co-op play are covered separately. Before dropping in, it's also worth a quick look at the current Escape the Cave codes for any freebies.
Stage 1: the cave-in and the first rock wall
You spawn at the bottom of the collapsed mine as the cave shakes around you. Fallen rocks seal the only path forward, glowing ores sit in the rock, and the mine cart waits nearby. The Tab menu already lists upgrades you can't afford — one player opened it immediately, found they had no money left, and went straight back to mining. That's the game telling you its order of operations: rocks first, shop later.
Stage 2: the mine → sell → upgrade loop
Mine until "Your bag is full". The starting bag carries about 25 rocks. Collect everything, and grab the glowing ores as you dig — gold, sapphires, emeralds and rubies all raise the payout (a sapphire sold for about $1 in the recorded run). Collection stops dead once the bag fills.
Sell at the cart. Carry the haul to the mine cart and drop it in; it converts to cash on the spot. Early hauls sell for well under a dollar, and that's normal — cash is the gate to every upgrade, and the full mining loop runs on this rhythm.
Upgrade in the Tab shop. The order that worked in the recorded run:
- Bag capacity first. Upgrades took the bag from 25 to 70, then 110 and 160 (a $9 and a $10 purchase were on screen). A separate side-storage stat rises 30 → 45 → 65 → 90, capped at 120 — see the backpack and storage guide. An "infinite bag" option also exists; it removes the cap entirely and unlocks a Hold mode, so collecting no longer means tapping every rock.
- Tool upgrades as cash allows. Pickaxe upgrades speed up hand mining, and the drill is the real turning point — detailed below.
- Repeat. Every sell trip funds the next upgrade, which fills the bag faster and digs deeper — that loop is the entire engine of the run.
Buy the drill — trial first, permanent second. The drill first appears as a short rental: it lasts only two minutes but digs at a completely different pace (one recording bought the trial for $2 of in-game cash; the other picked the same two-minute drill up at the side of the cave for two Robux). Use those two minutes hard, then buy the permanent drill for $20 as soon as you can afford it. Once you own it, upgrade its three stats in the Tab menu — cooling, grasp and run time ("Run time for longer before cooling down").
Keep the rhythm. Drill until it heats up, sell the haul while it cools, then go back in. With an upgraded drill and a 110-capacity bag, one player in the recorded run needed three to four sell trips per cooldown.
Optional buys that change the pace
- Helper robot (40 gems). It follows you and hauls rocks automatically — 45 per trip in the recorded run, more once upgraded — so money keeps coming in while your drill rests.
- Gem booster. Increases the gems you get from glowing pickups; gems are the currency behind the robot and the car.
- Car (40 diamonds, one per player). Parked at the side of the cave, upgradable including speed, and it doubles as an extra sell point away from the cart.
- Dynamite. The how-to-play pitches it as a digging speed tool. In practice, one first-level blast cleared nothing and was written off as wasted money; after an upgrade the blast widened and performed somewhat better, though still modestly. Treat it as an experiment rather than a plan — dynamite details here.
Nothing observed on this route says any single purchase is required to escape; each one just buys speed or income.
Mid-run checkpoint: the buried miner
Deeper in the tunnel you'll find a miner NPC buried under a pile of rocks — he waves you on while he stays put ("Takas ka na. Bawal pa." — escape already; not yet allowed for him). Clear his rock cover and he's free: he hands over a pile of diamonds and buys your haul at a higher price than the cart from then on. The recorded duo made freeing him their priority the moment they spotted him. It isn't a required step, but it's the best money checkpoint on the route, and freed-up hidden diamonds stack with the ores you're already selling.
Stage 3: the purple plug and the way out
The sign that the exit is near is unmistakable: the rocks turn purple. Don't trust a single drilled spot — one run bored into a promising-looking wall and found no path behind it, and the players concluded that all the remaining rock has to go. Light showing behind the last wall marks the true way out. Clear the plug, and the passage narrows to a gap your character has to squeeze through; brush the last debris aside and step into the light. The exact exit location is mapped separately if you only need the final room.
Finish: the portal, the payout, the lobby
The gap opens onto a portal, and stepping into it — not reaching the tunnel end — is what ends the run. Rewards are announced right after entry: the recorded clear paid 120 gems plus a +240 coin bonus after 14 minutes, then returned the players to the lobby automatically, where their time joined the best-time board. That's the loop the store page means by "Beat your best time!" — and reaching the end is what unlocks the game's ENDING, covered in the Escape the Cave ending guide.
Every gate that can stop you
| Gate | How it stops you | Way past |
|---|---|---|
| The rockfall itself | seals the only exit at spawn | mine it — the whole run is this loop |
| Cash | Tab-shop upgrades you can't afford | go back to mining and selling |
| Bag capacity | "Your bag is full" halts collection | sell at the cart; bag, side-storage or infinite-bag upgrades |
| Drill rental | the trial drill dies after two minutes | buy the permanent drill ($20) |
| Overheat | the drill stalls mid-dig, faster under heavy load | sell the haul while it rests; upgrade cooling, grasp and run time |
| The endgame plug | purple rock with no visible path, even where drilled | clear every remaining rock toward the light |
| The miner's rock cover | the buried NPC can't move or leave | clear his cover — optional; pays diamonds and better sell prices |
If you get stuck
- The drill keeps overheating. Don't push it — sell the haul, let it rest, resume. The stated fix in the final stretch was maxing grasp and continuing to raise cooling.
- You drilled and there's no path. Wrong spot or unfinished wall. Clear the remaining rock and look for the light behind it.
- The last stretch feels endless. Even a fully upgraded drill chews slowly through the deepest rock; keep the sell–cool–repeat rhythm going rather than switching tools.
- Your run doesn't match a friend's layout. Nothing confirms the tunnel is identical every run, so navigate by the signs — purple rocks and the light — instead of memorized turns.
Watching video walkthroughs? Match the content, not the title
Before following any video guide, check that the footage actually shows this game: rock being mined, a sell cart, Tab-menu upgrades. At least two videos titled "Escape the Cave" show a completely different stage-based parkour obby — respawning at numbered levels, lava, spikes — with no mining, cart or shop anywhere. There's also no documented chapter structure beyond the first escape; the store copy only teases "discover the cave isn't done with you yet", so treat any "Chapter" label on a video as the uploader's own label, not an in-game stage.
The run below shows the loop this page walks: mining the walls, selling the haul at the cart, upgrading in the Tab shop, and heading for the exit portal.
Keep the loop turning and follow the checkpoints in order — when the rocks go purple, the exit is close.
